Administration of Justice - Corrections A.S. Degree

Program Description

The Administration of Justice – Corrections Associate of Science Degree provides students with an understanding of the correctional systems utilized by local, state, and federal levels of government. Students will explore the various career paths and hiring practices associated with jobs in the Correctional field. It provides a comprehensive overview of correctional facilities, community-based facilities/programs, probation, and parole utilized in the United States. This degree will prepare students for a career in corrections.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Provide a comprehensive overview of employment options in the corrections profession at the local, state, and federal levels of public safety.

  2. Describe the various federal, state, and local legal frameworks, concepts and precedents that guide Correctional Professionals.

  3. Compare and contrast the adult correctional system and the juvenile correctional system at the local, state, and federal levels.
